VPN.ac Review

VPN.ac is a relatively new VPN service provider that aims to provide consistent and glitch free VPN connections across the globe. It is a venture by a Romanian company that provides online security solutions. This is a good pedigree for a VPN service that takes its user privacy very seriously. They come with a robust privacy policy and ensure that no user logs are stored for future use. Even though the speed and other technical aspects of the network are average, yet it ranks high because of the strong privacy policy and high-end security.

What we loved about VPN.AC

VPN.AC does not come loaded with a series of features, but what we loved most in this network is its Private DNS resolvers. This feature is extremely handy in preventing DNS leaks and DNS sniffing. Apart from this, the network also has the following features;

  • User logs are deleted every 24 hours
  • Equipped with Private DNS resolvers that prevents all scopes of DNS leaks
  • Accepts payment via bitcoin, further strengthening the anonymity factor
  • Great and responsive customer support

The infrastructure of this network is good, if not remarkable. Currently, VPN.AC has its servers in more than 15 countries. These include prime locations like the USA, UK, France, Germany, Mexico and Hong Kong. VPN.AC is currently equipped with the 128-bit and 256-bit encryption on OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP. The robust 256-bit encryption reduces the scopes of cyber crimes. This network is also equipped with the private DNS resolvers where the dns queries are encrypted only between the customers and the resolvers via 128-bit AES server.

VPN.ac provides a decent performance to its users. The network does not disclose its real IP address even during server switching. On top of that, being equipped with the private DNS resolvers system, it also does not have DNS leaks. However, we did have some disappointing results from the speed test. On checking the speed from a Netherlands’ server, we observed that the connection has a download speed of 12.62 mb/s and an upload speed of 1.10 mb/s. The ping rate is only 26 ms. This VPN network does not have any speed or bandwidth limits. On top of that, it also allows up to 3 simultaneous connections.

The network does come with a P2P policy, but this policy is limited to countries like Netherlands, Romania, China, Luxemburg, France, Hong Kong, Sweden and Singapore. VPN.AC also allows unlimited server switching, which we love.

In the news

As per the customer reviews of reddit and bestVPN forums, most of the customers are satisfied with the privacy and high-end security of the network. However, a large number of clients are also dissatisfied due to the low and inconsistent speed.

Final Verdict

With the lucrative features and extremely flexible cost, VPN.AC is indeed a good VPN connection if you’re looking for anonymity and security. However, this network may not be a great choice if you need glitch free and high-speed VPN networks. In that case, IBVPN or IPVanish can be better options.
